The national youth nuclear dialogues held under the Impact Team 2050 initiative from September to October 2026 brought together 1,050 participants from 18 universities across Central Asia. Organisers collected 800 questionnaires, involving young people from Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan, as well as participants from Tajikistan.
According to the survey findings, 69% of participants identified practical experience and mentorship as important factors in attracting young professionals to the nuclear industry. Another 62% highlighted the importance of clear career pathways, while 54% emphasised industry openness and 47% pointed to support at the beginning of a professional career.
The findings suggest that young people's interest in the energy sector depends not only on education but also on access to practical skills and professional guidance. However, the survey reflects the views of participants in sector-specific youth dialogues and should not be considered representative of all young people across Central Asia.
