Uzbekistan’s Currency Market Deficit Falls to $6.6 Billion: What It Means for Businesses

According to the Central Bank of Uzbekistan, the domestic foreign exchange market deficit narrowed to $6.6 billion in January–September 2026. Currency supply increased by 25.3% to $43.8 billion, while demand rose by 17.9% to $50.4 billion.

In the corporate sector, foreign currency supply grew by 26.7%, while demand increased by 15.3%. Export revenues also supported the market, rising by 28.1% to $16.6 billion.

The narrowing deficit may reduce pressure on the foreign exchange market and ease import-related transactions for businesses. However, the gap between supply and demand remains, with future trends depending on export revenues and business demand for foreign currency.
